Exciting Project Announcement: HEIDI – Empowering Employability for Highly Educated Adult Immigrants
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the HEIDI Project (Increasing the Employability of Higher Educated Adult Immigrants through the Evaluation, Development, and Certification of Their Qualifications and Skills). Funded under the Erasmus+ KA220-ADU program, this transformative initiative aims to enhance career opportunities and integration pathways for highly educated adult immigrants across Europe.
About the HEIDI Project
In today’s interconnected world, the skills and qualifications acquired in one country often don’t seamlessly translate into opportunities in another. Recognizing this challenge, the HEIDI project addresses critical barriers faced by adult immigrants with higher education, including the validation of their qualifications and alignment with job market requirements.
This three-year collaboration, running from November 2023 to October 2026, brings together a diverse consortium of organizations from Norway, Spain, Austria, Lithuania, Croatia, Germany, and Estonia. Each partner contributes a unique perspective and expertise, ranging from digital tool development to adult education innovation.
What We Aim to Achieve
Our mission is to prepare labor markets and adult immigrants alike by bridging skills gaps and streamlining the certification of qualifications. By fostering collaboration between adult educators, employers, and policymakers, HEIDI aspires to:
- Enhance skills identification, screening, and career counseling processes.
- Develop innovative tools, such as a standardized self-assessment system and a digital e-tool for employers.
- Build an online skills certification platform tailored to validate and showcase soft skills and competencies.
- Create a robust ecosystem of stakeholders dedicated to supporting adult immigrant employment.
Expected Outcomes
The HEIDI project will deliver impactful solutions to key challenges. These include:
- A comprehensive self-assessment toolkit for adult immigrants.
- Digital platforms for skills certification and employer engagement.
- Guidelines and training materials for career counselors.
- Pilot-tested tools and platforms to ensure relevance and functionality.
- A long-term strategy for stakeholder engagement and communication.
Why This Matters
The HEIDI project not only responds to pressing migration and labor market challenges but also aligns with the European Employment Guidelines. By empowering adult immigrants, we aim to drive economic innovation, social inclusion, and cultural participation across Europe.
